The Quabbin is a beautiful oasis, with over 80,000 acres of protected land and water. In this program we will concentrate on wildflowers in our study of ecosystems of the “accidental wilderness..” The class will begin indoors, where we will study Nick’s herbarium with photographs and preserved specimens of wildflowers. We will then spend the rest of the class in the field identifying what we see. Whether we call ourselves “trackers” or “naturalists,” learning about the plants that are the underpinnings of the web of life is an essential part of understanding the interconnectedness of all things.
